The United States continues its quest for a gold medal in men's basketball this week in London, while the National Football League starts to roll out its preseason schedule and the pennant races in MLB continue to heat up. As well, the top golfers in the world will compete at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational as that tournament gets underway Thursday morning.

The American men's basketball team won their tournament-opening game over France on Sunday, and they'll get back in action on Tuesday with their second game of the Olympics against Tunisia. Kevin Durant poured in 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the United States' 98-71 win over France on the weekend, with Kevin Love adding 14 points in that contest, and Kobe Bryant good for 10 points. LeBron James had nine points in that victory. Argentina, Nigeria, Russia, Spain, and Brazil also won their first games of the tournament.

The Angels and Rangers will continue their AL West battle in Texas on Wednesday night with the third game of the four-game series between the clubs. Los Angeles is scheduled to send Dan Haren (8-8, 4.59 ERA) to the mound for Wednesday's contest, while Yu Darvish (11-7, 4.05 ERA) is on tap to get the ball for the Rangers. Texas entered the opener of this series on Monday up five games on Los Angeles in the AL West standings, and they're jockeying with the Yankees for top spot in the AL. The Angels are in the Wild Card picture.

After playing in England and Canada over the past two weeks the golfers of the PGA Tour will return to the United States this week for the World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone CC in Akron, Ohio. Adam Scott came up short at the British Open two weeks ago, but he's the defending champion at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational having beaten Rickie Fowler and Luke Donald by four strokes at the event in 2011. Tiger Woods has won this tournament seven times in his career, most recently doing so in 2009.

Hall of Fame Weekend is the start of the National Football League's preseason schedule once again this year, with the Arizona Cardinals set to take on the New Orleans Saints in the opening exhibition match in Canton on Sunday night. The Saints' tumultuous offseason has seen them drop to 18/1 on the Super Bowl futures at Bovada heading into the start of the preseason slate, and they're back at 9/1 to win the NFC Championship. The Cards are at 28/1 to claim the NFC's title, and they're longshots of 60/1 to win the Super Bowl.

The Cardinals have been losing ground to red-hot Cincinnati in their division race and might have to reset their sights on one of the league's Wild Card berths, while the slumping Brewers are now playing for next season. St. Louis has managed to win five of its nine games against Milwaukee so far in 2012, with the OVER/UNDER sitting at 4-5 over those nine contests.
