Nevada takes on Arizona in New Mexico Bowl
The first bowl game of the year is the Gilden New Mexico Bowl at University Stadium in Albuquerque, which is set to kick off at 1:00pm ET on Saturday, December 15. Hitting the field for that contest are Nevada and Arizona, with the Mountain West's Wolf Pack one of the worst wagers in college football this season at 3-8-1 ATS to go along with their 7-5 SU mark. Nevada enters their bowl season matchup with one win over their past five games.
The Pac-12's Wildcats went 7-4 SU and 6-5 ATS this season, and trended strongly toward the OVER for totals bettors at Bovada with a 7-3 OVER/UNDER mark in their 11 games. Arizona lost their final game of the season 41-34 at home to Arizona State on November 23 after getting past Colorado (56-31) and Utah (34-24) in their two previous contests.
Toledo battles Utah State in Idaho Potato Bowl
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl then gets underway at 4:30pm ET on December 15 at Bronco Stadium in Boise, with Toledo taking on Utah State in that college football betting matchup at Bovada. The WAC's Utah State finished at No. 22 in the BCS rankings after going 10-2 SU and a profitable 10-1-1 ATS this season, and they've won six games in a row heading into their bowl matchup against the Mid-American's Toledo. Totals bettors at Bovada saw the Aggies go 3-8 on the OVER/UNDER through their regular-season schedule.
The Rockets will enter the Idaho Potato Bowl as the underdog on the college football betting lines, and they went 9-3 SU and 7-5 ATS during the season – and Toledo was also a strong UNDER wager this year at 3-8 OU for totals bettors. The Rockets lost back-to-back games to top MAC teams Ball State (34-27) and Northern Illinois (31-24) before getting past Akron by a score of 34-23 in their last game of the regular season on November 20.
Boise State highlights rest of early bowl slate
Bowl action then resumes on December 20 with BYU vs. San Diego State in the Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, while Ball State takes on Central Florida in the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg on December 21. On December 22 it's then East Carolina vs. Louisiana-Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl at the Superdome in New Orleans, and Washington vs. Boise State in the MAACO Las Vegas Bowl at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, with those two games set for 12:00pm and 3:30pm ET.
The Mountain West's Broncos ended the season at No. 19 in the BCS rankings with records of 10-2 SU but just 6-6 ATS, with the Pac-12's Huskies going 7-5 both SU and ATS this season. Boise State and Washington have actually met once in the past, with the Huskies beating the Broncos 24-10 as a 3-point home underdog in an UNDER result back in 2007.
